Creating Surfaces
RevWorks creates surfaces that are added to the SOLIDWORKS feature tree as independent items. The surfaces are seen by SOLIDWORKS as imported surface definitions. With RevWorks you can also create parametric surfaces.
The surfaces you create with RevWorks direct Surf technology represent surface patches on your part. The best results are achieved when you pre-select a plane that closely aligns with the orientation of the surface patch to be captured. This plane is used when trimming the outer boundary of the surface created. If you do not pre-select a plane DirectSurf attempts to determine the best plane from the actual data collected. This can produce unexpected results if the data you collect is weighted towards one side of the patch rather than being evenly distributed.
