Setting Spline Type for Spline-Bounded Surface
The limits of Spline-Bounded surfaces are defined by a single spline that you control with the Spline Boundary Type option setting. The setting you choose determines how closely the trimming spline will conform to the perimeter of the surface point data.
Linear – The spline wraps the boundary of the surface point data much like a rubber band encircles a spread of thumbtacks. The spline forms straight sections between each of the exterior points that it encircles and forms a sharp corner as it rounds the point. The spline perimeter is always convex, never straying into the interior of the data collected.
Tight Spline – The spline closely follows the exterior of the surface point data, as with the Linear method, but more emphasis is placed on generating a smooth curve around the corners. Because of this, the spline may wander in and out of the perimeter data points slightly to maintain a smooth curve.
Smooth Spline – Creation of a smooth spline is given the greatest emphasis. Because of this, the spline may wander in and out of the perimeter data points significantly even creating lobes that continue the surface where no data was actually collected.
To Set the Spline Boundary Type for Spline-Bounded Surfaces.
From the RevWorks toolbar, select ,
or select Options… from the RevWorks menu.
The Options dialog appears.
In the Surface tab, select on of the Spline Boundary Types presented.
