  1. Click on the Define Reference Frame icon .

  2. Click the World Frame option.

The World Frame varies depending on the product used. To see how initial setup affects the World Frame of your MicroScribe unit please review the following sections:

See the MicroScribe models' hardware manual for more information on the home position. Unlike previous MicroScribe models, a specific base joint angle is required. When placed in the proper home position at the time the Home button is pressed, the World Frame coordinate system of the MicroScribe MX and i models is as follows:

  • The default origin is at the center of the base joint axis, at the rotational center of the tombstone, flush with the bottom of the base plate.

  • The X-axis runs perpendicularto the “tombstone”, with positive X extending straight out from the front of the tombstone.

  • The Y-axis runs parallel to the tombstone, with positive Y in the direction in which the counterweight points.

Upon power-up of MicroScribe 3D models or pressing of the Home button after power-up of the MicroScribe G2 models, a default coordinate system is established.

  • The default origin is at the center of the base joint axis, at the rotational center of the tombstone, flush with the bottom of the base plate.

  • The X-axis runs parallel to the “tombstone”, with positive X in the direction in which the counterweight points.

  • The Y-axis runs perpendicular to the tombstone, with positive Y extending straight out from the front of the tombstone.

If desired, default X- and Y-axes may be varied by changing the orientation of the base joint before pressing the "Home" button (on MicroScribe G2 units) or powering-up the MicroScribe (on MicroScribe 3D units). It should be noted that exact base joint angles are difficult to replicate from session to session.
