Using Probe Manager with Romer Digitizers
The Probe Manager interface for Romer portable digitizers is highly automated. Standard Romer Probes are pre-qualified when shipped with your device and are automatically recognized when attached to your Romer digitizer. Because of this, interaction with Probe Manager is typically not required to begin digitizing part data. Simply attach the Probe you wish to use and choose the digitizing action to start taking part data.
Some older Romer Probes and Probes you have customized may not contain the identification encoder that is required to automate Probe use. Probe Manager provides the tools needed to support the manual selection and qualification of Probes.
The WinRDS software provided by Romer with your digitizer manages the qualification of Probes and creates individual Probe files for each Probe you use. Probe Manager reads data from these Probe files as needed and displays it to you when you view the information on individual probes. When you attach a new Probe to your Romer digitizer that is not contained in the currently active Probe Set, it is automatically added to the list of Probes in the Probe Set and is automatically ready for use.

Note: You can configure RevWorks to enable or disable the automatic detection of probes for Romer digitizers. |
|
Note: RevWorks displays measurements in the same units as the currently active part or assembly document. You can enter values in any other supported unit of measure by adding the recognized abbreviation after the value you enter. |
To Automatically Add a New Probe
Attach the probe to your Romer digitizer.
Start any digitizing procedure.
If new, the Probe is automatically added to the currently active Probe Set and made active. If the Probe already is listed, it is selected and made active.

The Probe reattachment mechanism for Romer digitizers is very reproducible and therefore removes the need to qualify your Probes every time they are reattached. From time to time you may wish to re-qualify your Probes to assure or confirm the accuracy of measurements. Probe Manager directly links to the Probe qualification tools provided with WinRDS to assure the highest quality of calibration provided for your device.
