Using Existing Planes

In RevWorks, you can use base planes, sketch planes, and even planar surfaces of model parts as the starting point for data collection. If you do not open a sketch before hand, RevWorks automatically creates a sketch on the reference plane or planar part surface you pre-selected. If you pre-select a sketch, RevWorks uses it directly, opening it if necessary, if no sketch is currently open.

To Use an Existing Plane

  1. If applicable, close the current sketch before you select a new plane

  2. From the Feature Manager or a Part window in SOLIDWORKS, select an existing plane, sketch, or planar surface of a model part

Note: You cannot select a planar surface of a model part using SOLIDWORKS Feature Manager.

  1. Select the RevWorks feature you wish to digitize.

The selected sketch is opened, or a new one created on the selected plane, and the digitizing process starts.
