Creating Parallel Planes

A parallel plane is a plane created as an offset from any currently selected plane or planar face. You must pre-select an existing plane or planar face in order to digitize a parallel plane.

To Create a Parallel Plane

  1. Select a plane or planar face from which you want to create a parallel plane.

  2. From the RevWorks toolbar, select ,
or from the RevWorks toolbar right click on any displayed Plane icon and choose Parallel,
    or select
Plane > Parallel from the RevWorks menu in SOLIDWORKS.

A prompt appears leading you through the data collection steps.

  1. Digitize a point at the location through which you want the parallel plane to pass.

RevWorks automatically creates a plane.

Note: RevWorks automatically adds a distance relationship between the newly created plane and the source plane or planar face. You can double mouse-click on the new plane to have SOLIDWORKS display the dimensional relationship.
