Connecting FARO Serial Digitizers
RevWorks is completely compatible with FARO Technologies articulated arm digitizers. Before connecting a FARO digitizer, the device must be properly secured for use. For specific instructions on how to properly mount your FARO device and attach probes, refer to your FARO hardware documentation.
Some older and larger FARO devices may have cables and connectors that are different than described in this procedure. Refer to your FARO manuals for explicit instructions on how to connect FARO devices to your computer.
Before connecting a FARO serial interface digitizer for the first time, please make sure that RevWorks has been properly installed.
First-Time Connection of FARO Serial Digitizers
FARO serial interface digitizers do not require any additional installation steps upon first use. Once you have installed RevWorks you can immediately connect and use your FARO serial digitizer.
To Connect a FARO Serial Interface Digitizer
Mount your FARO digitizer to the work surface or tripod.
Attach the desired probe tip.
Using the custom RS-232 serial cable that comes with the digitizer, connect one end to the connector marked "Serial Port" on the FARO's controller box.
Connect the other end of the cable to a serial communications port on the back of your computer.

Note: Make note of the communications port to which you connect your digitizer. You may need it when you configure the digitizer in RevWorks. |
