About Digitizers
Before you can use a digitizing
device, you must properly connect the digitizer to your computer and configure
RevWorks to communicate with the digitizer. Each make of digitizer has specific
requirements for setup and initialization. In order to configure RevWorks to
work with digitizers, you need to know specific communications requirements of
the digitizing device you plan to use and possibly other configuration
information. Once connected and configured, your digitizing device remains
available for use in future sessions.
RevWorks supports a variety of digitizing devices, including:
When you first attempt to
collect data, you may notice a time delay in before data collection starts. That is because RevWorks executes a connection procedure that
secures data communications with your digitizing device on the first attempt to
use the device. Depending on the type of digitizing device you are using, the
connection procedure may take several seconds before position data begins to stream. Additionally, some
devices require that homing or encoder calibration procedures be applied before
the device can begin collecting data. See the descriptions for your particular device for information on
start up procedures.
