Configuring Romer Sounds

In addition to the standard RevWorks sounds, or instead of, you can choose to have the Romer device generate sounds directly through its internal speaker. This option is useful in situations where the digitizer is separated from the controlling computer, when the computer has no sound capability, or when local conditions make it difficult to hear the computer-generated sounds. The Romer sound generator is capable of playing tone sequences, but not audio files like RevWorks.

To Configure Romer Sounds

  1. From the RevWorks toolbar, select ,
    or select
    Options… from the RevWorks menu.

The Options dialog appears.

  1. Select the Current Devices tab.

  2. From the Current Device drop-down list box, select Romer if it is not already selected.

The Options tab automatically reflects configuration options for the Romer portable CMM.

Note: If the Romer selection does not appear, RevWorks did not find a version of WinRDS installed on your computer. This Romer-supplied software is required to communicate with the Romer device.

  1. Select the Options tab.

  2. In the Communications group, select Sounds.

The Arm Sounds dialog appears.

  1. Adjust the Volume Level slider to adjust the volume for both general and RevWorks action related sounds.

  2. Select the Use device sounds checkbox to activate the use of sounds for RevWorks actions and alerts.

The sound options entry fields become active.

  1. From the Sound drop down list, choose the RevWorks action for which you wish to adjust the sound.

That sound’s properties are displayed in the Tone, Pitch and Duration fields.

  1. Select/deselect the Tone checkboxes to limit/expand the number of tones played for this sound.

Associated Pitch and Duration fields are enabled/disabled.

  1. Adjust the Pitch fields to modify the pitch of a tone.

  2. Adjust the Duration field to modify the amount of time a tone will be played.

  3. Select Test to play the currently selected sound.

  4. Select Set Defaults if you wish to return all sounds to their default values.

  5. Select OK to accept changes.
