Using Alignment Documents - Setting the Current Alignment Item

Setting the Current Alignment Item

An alignment document may contain many alignment objects, but only one may be active at a time. All alignment items in the Alignment Manager tree have an associated radio button. The button that is currently selected indicates the current alignment item. If the item indicated is a Leap Set, the Station within the Leap Set that has its radio button selected is the current station. Further, if the Primary Station has associated Datums or Origins, the one that is currently active has its radio button selected. At any time you can change between alignment items with four caveats:

  • If the current alignment is active, the alignment item you are switching to must have been recently measured. If not, the current alignment is deactivated and you are requested to measure the selected alignment.

  • Changing between types of alignments, such as from a Datum to an Origin item, during a digitizing session may cause unexpected results since they treat part alignments differently.

  • Within a Leap Set you can only switch between Stations that have a common Reference.

  • You can only change the use of a Datum or Origin associated with the Primary Station of a Leap Set when the Primary Station is the current station.

To Set the Current Alignment Item

  1. Access Alignment Manager

  2. Select the radio button next to the alignment item you wish to make the current item.

The radio button indicates that the new item is the current item.

Note: If the item is a Station within a Leap Set and the radio button is grayed the item cannot be selected because there is no common reference between the stations.

Note: When switching between Stations you are guided through a process for measuring the common reference to complete the leap to the new Station.
