Connecting FARO USB Digitizers
RevWorks is completely compatible with the newer series FARO articulated arm digitizers employing USB communications. Before connecting a FARO USB digitizer, the device must be properly secured for use. For specific instructions on how to properly mount your FARO device and attach probes, refer to your FARO hardware documentation.
Before connecting a FARO USB digitizer for the first time, please make sure that RevWorks has been properly installed, including the FARO USB drivers that are provided with RevWorks.
First-Time Connection of FARO USB Digitizers
The first time you connect the FARO USB device to the USB port the Found New Hardware Wizard automatically starts. Follow the instructions presented, making sure that you choose to let the Wizard automatically find and install the proper USB drivers. Once you have finished the wizard, the FARO USB interface is installed and ready to use with RevWorks.
To Connect a FARO USB Interface Digitizer
Mount your FARO digitizer to the work surface or tripod.
Attach the desired probe tip.
Using the standard USB cable that comes with the digitizer, connect one end to the USB socket on arm controller which is integrated into the arm base.
Connect the other end of the cable to a USB port on your computer.
Connect the power cable to the to the power connector on the arm controller, or
Insert a fully charged battery into the battery receptacle on the arm controller.
Your FARO USB digitizer is now ready to configure.
