Starting FARO USB Digitizers

FARO USB portable CMMs do not require any special setup before starting. Once communication is first attempted an arm start-up calibration dialog is presented that displays a generic image of an arm and red arrows indicating which joints must be manipulated to complete the start-up calibration. You must articulate each joint of the arm until all indicators are removed and the dialog disappears before device communications can start.

To Start A FARO USB Digitizer

  1. Make sure that the device is securely mounted to the working surface or support apparatus and that it is properly connected.

Note: See your FARO hardware documentation for specific instructions on how to properly mount your device and attach probes.

  1. Power on the FARO device.

An LED indicator on the probe hand grip lights to indicate power is on.

  1. Select on the RevWorks toolbar, or
select Probe Manager from the RevWorks menu in SolidWorks
and choose the probe tip you plan to use.

  2. From the RevWorks toolbar or menu, select a feature to digitize (e.g.: line, circle, arc, etc.).

RevWorks automatically connects to your FARO digitizer.

Note: The first time you use a FARO USB device after turning it on, you are presented with a calibration dialog. At this prompt, move the arm in the way described in your FARO documentation in order to activate calibration of each arm joint.

Note: If the probe you have chosen for use has not previously been qualified you are requested to qualify it before continuing.
