Decimating Point Files
Point files may be very large and contain much more data than you need or desire to import into SOLIDWORKS. To reduce the amount of data imported from a point file while maintaining a reasonable description of the entire object, RevWorks provides the option of doing a sequential decimation of the data being imported. Using this form of decimation, points are dropped at regular intervals in order to sequentially reduce the amount of data imported. For example, if you choose to decimate a file by 50% then every other point is dropped so that only half of the point data is actually imported. A 1% decimation results in 1 out of every 100 points being dropped.
To Decimate a Point File
During the process of importing a point file, enter the desired decimation amount or use the up and down spin arrows to adjust the existing value. The valid range or values is from 0% to 99%. The value you enter is used to set the decimation interval when importing the data.
