Configuring RevWorks Location Display

RevWorks allows you to configure the coordinates that display on the RevWorks toolbar and the RevWorks Position Window during data collection. There are three frames of reference from which you can choose to display coordinates when collecting data:

Sketch Coordinates

Shows the device probe tip location relative to the currently active sketch plane.

Part Coordinates

Shows the device probe tip location relative to the currently active part datum. (If no datum exists, Part Coordinates is the same as Device Coordinates.)

Device Coordinates

Shows the device probe tip location in true device coordinates irrespective of the currently active datum or sketch plane.

The mode for displaying coordinates does not affect data. No matter what coordinate reference frame is chosen, points remain in the correct positions on the working sketch plane. Coordinates that display on the RevWorks toolbar during data collection are not corrected for Probe Tip Radius. If you are using a ball probe tip, coordinates represent the center of the ball tip. In addition, RevWorks does not display coordinates in the chosen format if that format is not appropriate for the type of data you are collecting.

Note: Sometimes the chosen coordinate display option does not make sense for the type of data being collected. For example, it does not make sense to display the probe location in Part Coordinates when collecting data for a datum. In such cases, location display is adjusted appropriately. The Location Display Indicator always indicates the current Location Display type in effect.

To Configure the RevWorks Toolbar Location Display

  1. From the RevWorks toolbar, select ,
    or select
    Options… from the RevWorks menu.

The Options dialog appears.

  1. In the Display tab, select the coordinates that you would like to display on the RevWorks toolbar during data collection.

Note: The SOLIDWORKS precision option controls the precision of the numbers displayed by RevWorks. To adjust the precision and the units of location values displayed, adjust your SOLIDWORKS options.
