Setting Surface Extension

Often when collecting data to form a surface to be used as an extrusion boundary or as a cutting surface, it is not possible to get points close enough to the edge of the surface to fully bound or cut the solid being created. To remedy this, RevWorks allows you to extend the digitized surface by a percentage of its over all size using the same algorithm utilized in the creation of the surface. This allows the user to digitize the surface as it actually exists and extend the digitized edges so that the surface may be used by the CAD system to create the desired geometry.

In order to set the surface extension, you must enable the extend surface and then enter a value representing the percentage increase in the size of the digitized surface. This will extend all sides of the surface by that percentage.

At any time, you can disable, or enable and set the surface extension by performing the following procedures.

To Disable, or Enable and Set Surface Extension.

  1. From the RevWorks toolbar, select ,
    or select
    Options… from the RevWorks menu.

The Options dialog appears.

  1. In the Surface tab, select/deselect Extend Surface.

  2. Type in a % Extension value. The default value is 5% and valid values are from 0-25%.
