Creating Splines - Creating Closed 3D Splines
Creating Closed 3D Splines
RevWorks creates closed 3D splines from a set of three or more digitized points. This type of spline may also be referred to as a non-planar curve. 3D splines are created in true 3D space in a SOLIDWORKS 3D sketch, not projected to a 2D sketch plane. Closed splines have a beginning and end points that are coincident and have tangent curvature
RevWorks does not compensate closed 3D splines even if probe compensation is activated.
To Create a Closed 3D Spline
-
From the RevWorks toolbar, select
,
or from the RevWorks toolbar right click on any displayed Spline or Curve icon and choose 3D Spline > Closed,
or select Spline > 3D Spline > Closed from the RevWorks menu in SOLIDWORKS.
RevWorks prompts you to begin digitizing points.
-
Digitize a minimum of three points.
|
Note: RevWorks automatically creates the closed 3D spline feature once you digitize the maximum number of points. |
-
If you collect more than three points, but less than the maximum number of points for a spline, select
or another completion option to calculate the feature.
RevWorks generates a closed 3D spline from the collected data and places it in the active SOLIDWORKS 3D sketch.
