Creating Multi-Point Sketch Rectangles

RevWorks creates rectangles from multiple digitized points. Rectangle features are groups of four trimmed line segments that are created as a group having parallel and perpendicular relations pre-defined.

To Create a Multi-Point Rectangle

  1. From the RevWorks toolbar, select ,
or from the RevWorks toolbar right click on any displayed Rectangle icon and choose Points,
    or select
Rectangle > Points from the RevWorks menu in SOLIDWORKS.

RevWorks prompts you to begin digitizing points.

  1. Digitize at least five points, two points on the first side of the rectangle and then at least one point per side for the remaining three sides of the rectangle.

Warning: When taking data for multi-point rectangles you must progress clockwise or counter clockwise around the object being digitized.

Note: The Corner Distance setting for Rectangles gives you control over where corner can be inserted in the sequence of points you collect.

  1. If you collect more than five points, but less than the maximum number of points for a multi-point rectangle, select or another completion option to calculate the feature.

RevWorks automatically generates a rectangle from the collected data and draws it on the active SOLIDWORKS sketch plane, including perpendicular relations.
