Creating a 3D Point at the Intersection of Three Planes

RevWorks creates a plane-derived point by calculating the intersection of three individually digitized planes. None of the three planes used can be parallel. The resulting point feature is added to the active 3D sketch. The calculated planes are not added to the document.

To Create a 3D Point at the Intersection of Three Planes

  1. From the RevWorks toolbar, select ,
or from the RevWorks toolbar right click on any displayed Point icon and choose 3D Point > 3 Plane Intersection,
    or select
Point > 3D Point > 3 Plane Intersection from the RevWorks menu in SOLIDWORKS.

RevWorks prompts you to begin digitizing the first plane.

  1. Digitize a minimum of three points, or digitize more points to generate a greater precision plane.

Note: RevWorks automatically calculates the plane feature once you digitize the maximum number of points.

  1. If you collect more than three points, but less than the maximum number of points for a plane, select or another completion option to calculate the feature.

RevWorks prompts you to digitize a second plane.

  1. Digitize points for a second plane, as in step 2.

RevWorks prompts you to digitize a third plane.

  1. Digitize points for a third plane, as in step 2.

RevWorks calculates the three planes and creates a point feature at the intersection of the three planes. The point feature is the only item that RevWorks adds to the current 3D sketch.
