Creating a Sketch Line Using a Set of Points

 

RevWorks creates 2D sketch lines from a set of two or more digitized points. If you collect more than two points, RevWorks applies an averaging algorithm to calculate the best line through the data.

To Create a Sketch Line Using Points

1. From the RevWorks toolbar, select ,
   or from the RevWorks toolbar right click on any displayed Line icon and choose Sketch Line > Points,
   or select Line > Sketch Line > Points from the RevWorks menu in SOLIDWORKS.

RevWorks prompts you to begin digitizing points.

2. Digitize a minimum of two points, or digitize more points to generate a greater precision line.

   Note: RevWorks automatically creates the line feature when you digitize the maximum number of points.

3. If you collect more than two points, but less than the maximum number of points for a line, select or another completion option to calculate the feature.

RevWorks generates a line from the collected data and draws it on the active SOLIDWORKS sketch plane.

	Note: RevWorks draws a line between the first and last point that you collect. RevWorks uses data that you collect outside of the bounding points in the calculation of the line, but the data does not affect the line’s length.
	Note: The direction of the line (important when using lines to create a custom datum) is from the first point towards the last point collected.
