Collecting Data for 3D Features

RevWorks collects data you select for 3D features and places the points into the active 3D sketch. Points are placed directly into the 3D sketch, as they are collected. RevWorks computes and places the generated feature within the active 3D sketch.

To Collect Data for a 3D Feature

  1. Open a part file, if applicable.

  2. Select an existing SOLIDWORKS 3D sketch or select the 3D sketch edit tool to create a new 3D sketch.

Note: If you do not select or create a 3D sketch before selecting a RevWorks 3D feature option, a 3D sketch is created for you automatically.

  1. From the RevWorks toolbar, select the data collection mode you want to use: for single point mode or for scan point mode.

  2. From the RevWorks toolbar or menu in SOLIDWORKS, select the type of 3D feature you want to create.

RevWorks prompts you to begin collecting data.

  1. Pressing the spacebar on your keyboard or the primary button on your digitizer or auxiliary switch, digitize the minimum number of points required to create the feature.

RevWorks provides audio feedback for every point that you digitize and draws the point on the current sketch plane.

Note: You can customize sounds for many events, such as: collecting data, completing feature calculation, and deleting data. For more information, see Managing RevWorks Sounds.
